Newcastle United agree to move DeAndre Yedlin on 'free of charge' say Galatasaray

Newcastle United have freed up a squad place after allowing DeAndre Yedlin to join Galatasaray on a free transfer.

The American right-back has signed a deal until 2023 and will pick up €2.5million over the next three seasons.

A spokesperson from the 22-times Turkish Lig champions said: "An agreement was reached with the professional football player DeAndre Yedlin and his club Newcastle United Limited to transfer the player free of charge."

Yedlin has been presented to the Istanbul club's in their famous red and yellow shirts after passing a medical this afternoon.

Newcastle had not struck an agreement to extend his contract, sparking his decision to pursue other opportunities.

United head coach Steve Bruce said today: "We've have three right-backs, he's more comfortable at wing-back and it's no secret we've been trying to move to a back four.

"I'd like to wish him best of luck in Turkey, playing for a huge club.

"We had to let somebody out to let somebody in."

Yedlin had stated he wanted a new deal with Newcastle but after failing to hear back from the club's board, he took up the chance to sign for the Turkish giants after five years on Tyneside.
