Newcastle United add former Liverpool and England staff member to backroom team

Newcastle United have added former Liverpool and England physio Dave Galley to their backroom team.

The experienced backroom member replaces the departing James Haycock and will work with the Magpies until the end of the season.

Galley had a busy first day in the office as Javier Manquillo and Kieran Trippier suffered foot injuries in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

But he will be tasked with getting the duo back to fitness as soon as he can.

Galley worked with Liverpool from 1999 to 2005 and with Sunderland between 2010 to 2013.

He arrives at Newcastle from Plymouth Argyle and gets to work straight away.

United still have the highly respected Paul Catterson on board as head of the medical department alongside long serving physio Derek Wright.
