Newcastle United about to offload Danish striker Elias Sorensen

Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen could be set to leave the Magpies this summer.

The youngster, who spent last season on loan in Holland’s second flight at Almere City, has been heavily linked with Esberg.

The Danish club are keen to offer the 21-year-old a chance to revive his career.

Sorensen was in red-hot form during the 2018/19 season before being loaned to Blackpool.

But he was unable to get regular game-time and despite call-ups to Denmark’s Under-21 side, Newcastle have opted against giving him first-team action.

The Magpies did take a look at him in 2019 in Steve Bruce’s first game in charge in the Premier League Asia Cup during a 1-0 win over West Ham.

But after another unsuccessful loan at Carlisle United he ended up back on Tyneside.

Sorensen has one year left on his Newcastle contract.
