Newcastle transfer news: 'New Raphael Varane wanted' and serious competition for Broja

Newcastle have already splashed out £57million this summer and are determined to keep spending.

They feel they have bought wisely in signing Matt Targett permanently for £15million, Nick Pope for a bargain £10million and Sven Botman for £32million.

Boss Eddie Howe still wants to strengthen his squad further and is interested in Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi as well as Everton's Anthony Gordon. Mirror Sport has the latest transfer news, including updates on Gordon and Armando Broja.

New deal on the cards for highly-prized Newcastle target

HITC carry a report on Newcastle's interest in Everton starlet Anthony Gordon, claiming the Blues aim to ward off the Magpies by tying him down with a new contract.

Newcastle were reportedly willing to offer £35milion for Gordon, who played a leading role in Everton's successful relegation fight last season.

Everton are loathe to lose Gordon and have rebuffed Newcastle's advances and now want to offer the winger an improved deal. Boss Frank Lampard wants to rebuild Everton and sees Gordon as being central to his plans.

Newcastle target 'the new Raphael Varane'

The Boot Room carry a report from Foot Mercato, claiming Newcastle are keen on Nice centre-half Jean-Clair Todibo.

Newcastle have already signed Dan Burn and Sven Botman this year to bolster the heart of their defence and the report claims they also want Todibo, who has been dubbed 'the new Raphael Varane'.

Todibo, 22, is attracting much interest and Manchester United are reportedly eyeing him up. Nice want around £17million for the 6ft 3ins Frenchman and have already knocked back approaches from Sevilla and Napoli.

Newcastle face stiff competition in battle for Chelsea striker

The Newcastle Chronicle claim Newcastle face serious competition in the battle to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea.

Broja wants to leave Chelsea permanently after loans at Southampton last season and Vitesse Arnhem the campaign before that and Newcastle are interested.

However Southampton want to re-sign the Albanian star, who scored nine goals on loan for them last season, while West Ham and Everton are also said to be keen. Broja, 20, is hot property and he is being eyed up in Italy with AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta credited with an interest in him.
