Newcastle transfer gossip with 'unmissable' £36m bid for Juventus star amid Kang-in Lee links

You latest Newcastle United 4am transfer digest.

'Unmissable Locatelli bid'

New Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is said to be keen on a reunion with Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli. The pair worked together at Sassuolo before the Italy international earned a switch to the Serie A giants on an initial loan deal in the summer of 2021.

Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb claim a bid in the region of £36 million would be enough to land Locatelli, but the Seagulls could face competition from the Magpies and Arsenal. Mikel Arteta's side have reportedly been snubbed by the midfielder once before, as the 24-year-old favoured a move to Juventus.

The report outlines Newcastle are set to make an 'unmissable' offer for the Euro 2020 winner. However, there is no indication whether Locatelli is open to a Premier League move, let alone a switch to St James' Park.

Mallorca star a target?

The Magpies continue to be linked with attacking reinforcements despite the record-breaking summer arrival of Alexander Isak. Recent reports suggest a move for James Maddison could be revisited, but a fresh claim from Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests a new target could be on the horizon.

Real Mallorca attacker Kang-in Lee is enjoying a breakout campaign in La Liga, and was nominated for the division's player of the month award in August. The South Korean international is said to have ignored a summer approach in 2021 from Wolves after leaving Valencia on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old netted just once in the entirety of last season along with registering three assists, but has already matched these returns in just six La Liga appearances so far. There is no indication of a potential fee that would be required, although he is currently valued at just over £8 million on Transfermarkt.
