It might seem like it was just yesterday that the heatwave sent the UK into meltdown, but forecasters are already predicting the return of soaring temperatures as the country heats up again in August. The mercury is set to jump back up to the mid-30s next month - although the North East will miss the worst of the heat.
While 40C highs are unlikely so soon after last week's record-breaking temperatures, it will still feel very hot for many in the second week of August. According to the latest forecast from weather data platform WXCharts, the South East of England will hit 32C around August 9, with the following day expected to be equally warm.
However, by Thursday, August 11, those in Surrey and Berkshire will once again be baking in 35C heat. Wiltshire and Somerset are also set to melt in highs of 34C, as people living across Devon, Cornwall and the Midlands will benefit from it being few degrees cooler, at 31C.

It all changes as you head further north, though, with mid-20s temperatures dominating the forecast, The Express reports. Leeds and the Yorkshire Dales will see 24C weather conditions, while Newcastle and much of the North East will see a far cooler week, with temperatures likely dropping below 20C.
In the meantime, this weekend promises to be mild but cloudy, with highs of 21C on Saturday and 19C on Sunday.
Going into next week, the Met Office weather forecast for Newcastle says: "Showers at first Sunday, but drier and brighter later. Sunshine and isolated showers on Monday. Rain at times on Tuesday, turning increasingly showery. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine."
