Newcastle tie eight promising youngsters down to new deals, including three training with first team

Newcastle United have tied eight of their most-promising youngsters down to new deals - including the trio of players who have been promoted to take part in pre-season training with the first team.

Goalkeeper Nathan Harker, forward Thomas Allan and midfielder Mo Sangare have all been handed an opportunity to impress during first-team training by former Under-23 manager Ben Dawson who, alongside fellow Academy coach Neil Redfearn, is taking charge of pre-season sessions as Newcastle's search for Rafa Benitez's permanent successor continues.

All three have been given new professional deals by the Magpies , with Harker having already played in a first-team friendly against Royal Antwerp at the Pinatar Arena out in Spain in March 2018.

Centre-back Stefan O'Connor, Under-23s captain and defender , full-back Oliver Walters and left-back Liam Gibson - who has also featured during a first-team friendly - are the other youngsters who have penned fresh contracts.

The reserves are currently out at the Pinatar Arena in Spain undertaking a week-long training camp, before their opening pre-season friendly against Hibernian on Monday, July 15.
