Newcastle teen lands lead role in JD Sports Christmas ad with Maya Jama, Jadon Sancho and more

A young Newcastle-born actor will have his face everywhere in the run up to Christmas, after bagging the lead role in JD Sports' festive ad campaign.

Cole Weallans-Watts shares air time with big names from the world of sport, TV and music in the sports giant's King of the Streets advert, calling it a 'job to remember'.

Cole, 18, who has appeared in North East-based BBC series The Dumping Ground, is the first person on screen in the ad, which features big names like TV host Maya Jama, music icon KSI and England players Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jadon Sancho and Kalvin Phillips.

Other recognisable faces in the Christmas ad, include former Love Island star Joanna Chimonides, rappers Aitch and Ms Banks and top women's footballer Leah Williamson, who plays for Arsenal and England.

Sound tracked by Toddla T and Shaybo, the advert, filmed in Greater Manchester, sees Cole play a young protagonist taking a stroll down a fictitious high street on a cold, quiet wintery night.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary high street, but upon closer inspection it becomes clear that every store has been reimagined with a touch of JD Christmas magic.

Through a storefront window, Maya Jama and Michael Dapaah can be seen running a rather questionable dog grooming salon (Jama & Dapaah), which is frequented by a host of famous faces wanting their canine companions to look their best for Christmas day.

In the local milkshake parlour (Jammy Dodgers), Little Simz can be spotted having a casual catch up over cake with Ms Banks.

Meanwhile, Manchester’s very own Aitch and self-proclaimed Queen of the South Shaybo, are serving up Jamaican patties in the west Indian takeaway next door (Jerk & Dumplings). British rappers Central Cee and Russ Millions are on the hunt for mince pies at the grocery store (Juicy & Delicious).

The ad has had a big reaction online, with one Twitter user, having watched it, posting: "Enjoying the @JDSports Christmas

advert with the boy. Lots of great names in it (many I know, some I don’t) but good fun to watch."

A second reacted: "Bloody love the @JDSports Christmas advert," and another impressed viewer posted: that JD

Sports Christmas advert was so great."
