Newcastle target 'says goodbye to team-mates ahead of move back to Premier League'

Newcastle 'target' Aaron Ramsey has said goodbye to his Juventus team-mates ahead of a proposed move back to the Premier League.

That's according to Gazzetta dello Sport who claim the Welsh international will only return to Juve’s training ground after the winter break on Monday to say goodbye to his team-mates.

The former Arsenal midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to St. James' Park in January, while Everton are also among the clubs chasing his signature.

The report claims the 31-year-old has been in ‘close contact’ with other clubs and is 'desperate' for a move away from Turin.

Ramsey made the switch to Juventus back in 2019, leaving Arsenal on a free transfer, and would become one of the highest paid players at the club.

It's believed Ramsey would be taking a large pay cut to move back to the Premier League and Newcastle are one of the frontrunners for his signature.

The Welshman has found regular game time hard to come by and is expected to leave The Old Lady later this month.

The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder, who would freshen up their engine room and bring vital experience to the Toon's dressing room.

Eddie Howe has stressed the importance that Newcastle bring in players with the right mentality if they're to survive their current battle with relegation.

The Toon remain locked in a battle at the foot of the table but remain just two points adrift from safety.
