Newcastle 'target' Celtic and Rangers strikers Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos

Newcastle are reportedly keen on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

Manager Steve Bruce is said to be an admirer of the Frenchman, and is also reported to be interested in Rangers' top goalscorer Alfredo Morelos.

Edouard is believed to be the Premier League side's top target, with the 22-year-old having scored 62 goals in 126 appearances during his time at Celtic Park.

A report in the Daily Star says manager Steve Bruce was sold on Edouard by his son Alex, who left Kilmarnock in January.

Edouard has also been linked with Leicester, Arsenal, Everton and Lyon. The French side are said to view him as a potential replacement for Moussa Dembele, himself a former Celtic striker.

Morelos is another option for Bruce should he fail to secure the signature of £30m-rated Edouard.

The Colombian has scored 77 goals in 134 games for the Ibrox club, but has seen his form dip dramatically since the winter break.

Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor, meanwhile, has hailed captain Scott Brown has his best ever teammate, telling the Celtic View : "The person I see perform at the highest level every single day is Broony.

"He does it every day in training and in games. His mentality is always the same. For me to work so closely with him, I see his attitude and the way he drives other people on.

"He’s always got the highest standards. His footballing ability gets overlooked a lot as well. You don’t play for Celtic for over 10 years and wear the captain armband and not be a top player.

"He’s played in all these European games and he’s a top footballer as well. For me, to be that consistent over a period of 14 or 15 years shows that he’s a top player."
