Newcastle takeover lawyer 'delighted' for good clients as he tweets about United again

Newcastle United takeover lawyer Nick De Marco has congratulated the Magpies on their latest victory.

De Marco has been instructed by lawyers acting on behalf of Newcastle owner Mike Ashley to look at the Premier League's conduct following a failed bid to sell the club.

That is a separate legal action to the one being led by a fans' group - although De Marco appeared to tweet support for the proposed move recently.

United fans have been keeping a close eye on De Marco's Twitter feed following a number of Newcastle-based references - most recently posting pictures of his first attempt at baking a "stottie", a flat round loaf of bread which has its origins in the north east.

CRYSTAL PALACE 0-2 NEWCASTLE - LEE RYDER'S VERDICT

Now he has hailed Newcastle's 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Friday night, while wishing Brighton & Hove Albion good luck in their Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Two late goals gave Steve Bruce's men the three points at Selhurst Park.

Callum Wilson broke the deadlock with an 88th-minute opener, before Joelinton sealed the victory shortly afterwards.

The result sent the Magpies 10th in the Premier League table ahead of the rest of this weekend's fixtures.

De Marco tweeted: "Come on Brighton! My new local team. Always like to see good clients win, esp against Liverpool! And well done NUFC yesterday! #Brighton #BHALIV #Newcastle #PremierLeague

"Good luck also today to #DCFC (Derby County) and #SWFC (Sheffield Wednesday). If all 3 clubs win today I’ll have a special drink tonight."

De Marco was recently part of the team that appealed to the EFL arbitration panel on behalf of Sheffield Wednesday over their 12-point penalty, imposed for breaching spending regulations.

As a result, the punishment was halved to six points.
