Here are your top Newcastle United stories for August 6:
Pallotta agrees Roma sale
Roma president James Pallotta has agreed to sell up to the Friedkin Group - having been linked with a move for Newcastle United.
AS Roma SPV LLC signed an equity purchase agreement with the Friedkin Group on Wednesday night, which will see the majority shareholder sell its controlling stake in the club for £533m.
Pallotta has been Roma's president since 2012, after spearheading a takeover bid by a group of US investors, but had been open to selling the club for some time.
The billionaire, who is also the co-owner and executive board member of NBA giants the Boston Celtics, has been repeatedly linked with a bid for Newcastle in the Italian press but has yet to comment on those reports.
MPs pressure
A number of MPs have thrown their support behind the Newcastle United Supporters Trust as the pressure grows on the Premier League to provide greater transparency into their takeover process.
A petition calling for an investigation into the Premier League's takeover process is close to surpassing 85,000 signatures. Meanwhile the Newcastle United Supporters Trust, whose membership base has increased by over 2,000 members in the last week, is taking the fight to the Premier League as well and accused them of 'ignoring' the fans of the club in a hard-hitting statement that called for local politicians to come together to petition the game's authorities.
Politicians are seemingly answering that call with a number of the region's MPs either expressing their support to the NUFC Supporters Trust or raising their concerns in a letter to Premier League CEO Richard Masters.
Amnesty on PL test
The Premier League has been urged to overhaul its 'hopelessly unsuited' owners' and directors' test amid the Newcastle United takeover saga.

The call comes from Human Rights Organisation Amnesty International who claim the protracted Saudi-backed bid for control of the Magpies should serve as a 'wake up call' for the Premier League's decision makers.
NUST write to PL
The Newcastle United Supporters' Trust (NUST) have written to the Premier League to ask for a meeting on the takeover process 'and a lack of transparency for fans' - and have offered the Magpies their assistance to help Mike Ashley sell the club.
The NUST sent out their latest members' update on Wednesday night and confirmed they have written to the governing body - chief executive Richard Masters, director of policy Bill Bush and chairman Gary Hoffman - and have also got in contact with Newcastle to offer their assistance 'with anything supporters can do to help the current owner realise his ambition of selling our club for £300m'.
The trust have confirmed they have also reached out to every MP in the North East, asking for a cross-party consensus 'to tackle the issue of transparency from the Premier League', which has received a lot of support, and have contacted other Premier League trusts to 'start the process of cross-club cooperation'.
They NUST have also created a 'call for unity' online meeting for up to 500 NUST members, which will take place on Zoom at 5.30pm on Friday, and will be hosted by the Athletic's George Caulkin.
In their latest update to members, the trust write that the 'collapse of the purchase of Newcastle United has potentially robbed the North East of a huge opportunity' after the buyers - Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben Brothers - withdrew their offer last week.
Jordan's verdict
Simon Jordan does not understand why Mike Ashley and the consortium interested in buying Newcastle United are not dragging the Premier League 'kicking and screaming into to public domain' after the club's takeover collapsed.
The Premier League, who had been carrying out their owners' and directors' test for four months, have yet to comment on the matter and Jordan has been a little surprised by the fallout.
