Newcastle 'survey' Jose Mourinho transfer target and Santiago Munoz 'erased' claim

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Zakaria 'survey'

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to secure the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The holding midfielder is due to become a free agent in the summer and is said to have expressed his interest in finding a new club for next season.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked in recent days, and now Italian outlet Siamo La Roma claim Newcastle have enquired about Zakaria's availability.

Mourinho is reportedly keen to close a deal in the mid-season window, but the same report outlines there is also interest from Juventus and Inter Milan in the Swiss international.

Munoz 'erased'

Sanitago Munoz's deadline-day arrival on Tyneside inevitably attracted widespread attention as a result of his parallels with the cult film Goal! The Dream Begins.

The promising Mexican striker arrived from Santos Laguna on an initial 18-month loan deal, with an option to buy included.

Munoz expressed his delight at his Tyneside switch, but has since seemingly been totally 'erased' by the club according to Mexican outlet Futbol Total.

The title claim the 19-year-old has been 'completely sidelined' by new under-23s boss Elliot Dickman having been overlooked in recent squads, with the report adding the young forward already finds himself in a 'difficult situation'.
