Newcastle United supporters have welcomed the latest exciting young addition to the squad after the club confirmed the deadline-day deal for Harrison Ashby. The West Ham prospect has signed a long-term contract at St James' Park after turning down a contract extension with the Hammers.
Ashby made seven first-team appearances with West Ham, including two in this season's Europa Conference League. The 21-year-old is expected to provide cover for Kieran Trippier and compete with Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo in the right-back spot.
David Moyes confirmed the deal was imminent on Monday night, and admitted the Hammers had been unsuccessful in their attempts to convince the full-back to sign a new contract beyond this summer. Newcastle had made an approach in the summer, and Eddie Howe has now landed the rising star for an undisclosed fee.
