Newcastle supporters send board transfer message after Andrea Belotti decision

Newcastle United supporters have told the club they should try to sign soon-to-be free agent Andrea Belotti. The Italian striker is set to leave Torino on a free transfer this summer and has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted: "Official statement from Torino now confirms Andrea Belotti will not sign a new contract - he’s available on the market as free agent immediately, no full agreement with any club yet. Belotti will make a decision on his future club soon."

The Italian international is a regular goal scorer in Serie A and is being linked with a number of high profile clubs across Europe. While the Magpies have to take in mind Financial Fair Play, the lack of a transfer fee could prove an attractive proposition.

There have not yet been any concrete links with the 28-year-old and Tyneside, but the Magpies have previously scouted the striker and that hasn't stopped fans talking about Belotti online. When asked by @NUFC360 on Twitter, if the Magpies should take a punt on the forward, there was an overwhelming message for the Toon hierarchy.

Here's what Newcastle United supporters have had to say on the news:

@CallumTroy97 said: "Definitely built for premier league, for free it’s a silly question would snap your **** off for him."

@BrunoGnufc said: "As a rotation striker absolutely 100%. Then throw the budget at Diaby."

@Antallen1 tweeted: "Not bad stats. He averages a goal every 2.24 games and normally plays most matches - most recent season aside. I'd take him to play second fiddle to Wilson."

@Dave_Mooney said: "Yes! I think he's the type of deal the club could secure under the radar. Some good free transfers available out there. I'd be surprised if we're not working on a few already."

@andrewsneill tweeted: "Definitely. It brings in a quality player for no capital expenditure. Yes there'll be significant fees and wages but you'd normally get that on top of the transfer fee. If we could get him and Eriksen both on 'frees' I'd be delighted"

@DiscoDan18 said: "We never seem to be able to sign world class signings on free transfers. Would be awesome if Eriksen and Belotti changed this though."
