This isn't what you want to see on your morning walk to work.
Two Newcastle city centre subways were left several feet below water after torrential rain overnight.
The pedestrian routes connecting Jesmond to the city centre, coming out at Brandling Park and Newcastle University's Robinson Library, were submerged.

Another subway connecting Brandling Park to Exhibition Park was also left impassable.
Both are busy routes, especially in the morning, and are used by cyclists too.
But anyone hoping to use the path would have to go the long way round unless they fancied a swim.
The problem occurred because of the amount of water gushing down from the Town Moor after heavy rain Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Video footage taken by Newcastle city centre showed water pouring down the steps into the subways. It is one of a number of incidents of flooding dotted around the North East.
A spokesperson for Newcastle City Council said: “Engineers have been on site to pump the water out of the subway and once the water has been removed a cleansing operation will begin to remove any debris.
“Once the site has been cleared we will be in a position to reopen the subway.”
Standing water on roads caused traffic problems at rush hour .
The Central Motorway, A19 and Tyne Bridge all experienced heavy delays as a result of the weater.
