Newcastle singer Channy Thompson lands huge gig at Winter Pride in Gran Canaria

She has established herself as firm favourite with Pride audiences across the UK but now Newcastle singer Channy Thompson has her sights set on a huge gig further afield as she gets ready for a main stage performance at one of the world's biggest Pride events.

West End girl Channy, who now lives in Gateshead, has been confirmed on the lineup for the closing night of Maspalomas Winter Pride in Gran Canaria, where she will perform to a crowd of tens of thousands on a huge stage in the famous Yumbo Centre.

And that's not it as Channy will also perform in front of streets full of people on a float for the Pride parade, which is one of the big highlights of the event.

Channy has performed at so many Pride events across the Country, it’s hard to keep up with her!

So far she has featured on the main stages of Newcastle Pride, Leeds Pride, Wigan Pride, Cardiff Pride, Lancaster Pride, Dumfries & Galloway Pride, Durham Pride, Liverpool Pride, Morecambe Pride, Barnsley Pride, Hertfordshire Pride, Hastings Pride, Be Proud Weekend-Manchester, Dundee Pride, Cumbria Pride and just this weekend she closed Sunderland Pride.

Speaking about her huge Winter Pride gig, Channy says "It’s a dream come true to be flying off across the world to perform at this amazing event. Pride has such an intense feeling of belonging.

"The demonstration of solidarity and celebration of different cultures is so refreshing.

" I love being involved, creating a positive connection and atmosphere through music and diversity.

"Winter Pride, Maspalomas is one of the biggest Pride events in the world, so it’s an absolute honour that they have booked me to perform, I literally can’t wait!

Channy is no stranger to huge stages. She’s supported artists such as Jess Glynne, Olly Murs and Sigala to name a few.

And last December she made history with 'The Unstoppable Concert', becoming the first unsigned artist in the world to headline her hometown arena in Newcastle.
