Newcastle sign Allan Saint-Maximin in £16million deal, and Steve Bruce promises he'll 'excite everybody'

Newcastle United have confirmed the arrival of Allan Saint-Maximin after a month-long chase as they ended a busy day on a high.

The 22-year-old arrives from Nice in a £16.5million deal and has signed a six-year contract. He will wear the number 10 shirt at United this season.

Saint-Maximin and fellow new boy Jetro Willems are both included in the squad to take on St Etienne, with Newcastle confirming the exciting winger could feature.

Head coach Steve Bruce said: “I’m delighted to bring Allan to St. James’ Park. He is a very talented young player with a big future ahead of him.

“He has all the attributes you would want in an attacking player, including lightning pace, so I’m sure he’ll excite everybody.

“He is a great addition to Newcastle United and the Premier League.”

The winger was confirmed shortly after Jetro Willems signed a season long loan.
