One man has been charged with murder and another is expected to be extradited from the ACT by NSW detectives investigating the shooting death of a woman at Newcastle.
Stacey Klimovitch, 61, was gunned down after answering the front door of her home in Queens St at Stockton around 8pm on June 9.
Police at the time said they believed the attack was almost certainly targeted.
Ms Klimovitch died at the scene as those responsible fled on foot.
A female relative and her infant child were present at the residence when the shooting happened but didn't see the assailant.
Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Backhouse detectives arrested and charged a 29-year-old man at Honeysuckle in Newcastle on Friday morning.
They were expected to allege he orchestrated the murder, with the man to face Newcastle Bail Court on Saturday.
A 46-year-old man was also arrested by federal police at a home in Chisholm in the ACT on Friday evening.
Backhouse officers will apply for his extradition to NSW in the coming days, with the intention of also charging him with murder.
Police will claim he was the one who fired the fatal shot.
At the time, Detective Superintendent Wayne Humphrey described the homicide as horrendous.
"An innocent person who's answered the front door of her home and been shot in the chest and killed in the presence of a relative and child ... it doesn't get any worse," he told reporters.
"I really want the public to step up."
