Newcastle United have opened talks over a potential move for Rangers prospect Alex Lowry, according to Football Insider. The teenager attacker has reportedly turned down an opening contract offer from the Scottish champions.
The 18-year-old is said to be 'weighing up his options', with the Scotland youth international's contract due to expire next year. Football Insider claim Magpies' head of recruitment Steve Nickson met with Lowry's agent ahead of Newcastle's recent home victory over Wolves.

Ekitike rival
Newcastle continue to be linked with another approach for Stade de Reims wonderkid Hugo Ekitike, despite being turned down on January deadline day. The French forward is reportedly attracting interest from a host of European clubs ahead of prospective summer move.
Now, AS Roma Live claim Jose Mourinho's side are mulling over a deal for Ekitike. However, the report also claims Borussia Dortmund are also credited with an interest ahead of Erling Haaland's expected exit.
