Newcastle's Sean Longstaff tipped as one to watch by UEFA amid Manchester United transfer interest

Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff has been listed as one of UEFA's ones to watch for the forthcoming season.

The governing body asked their experts to compile a list of the 50 best youngsters across the continent, and the midfielder made it onto the list.

The experts on Longstaff, write: "He combines youthful energy with the assuredness, passing and vision of an old pro. Sparkled for the Magpies in a three-month spell last term before an injury lay-off."

The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United but a bid has yet to be made.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley in an interview with the Mail Online that Longstaff was not for sale.

Speaking to Martin Samuel, he said: "The message we want to put out is that he is not for sale,

"‘If you’ve got one like Sean – keep him."

Longstaff scored in the 3-1 win over Hibernian early this week, and it is thought that Steve Bruce would like to offer him a new deal.
