Newcastle United are now favourites with the bookmakers to join Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion in the Championship next season.
Steve Bruce's Magpies suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Brighton on Saturday night, which saw the odds on them playing Premier League football next season plummet.
The Newcastle hierarchy will stick by head coach Bruce with nine games of the season remaining.
United are still outside the relegation zone despite a dreadful run of form, and have a two-point lead over 18th-placed Fulham and a game in hand.
However, Newcastle's dismal form and the fact Scott Parker's Cottagers are looking more likely to seal big results, means the bookmakers have the Magpies are favourites for the final relegation spot.
Before last night's game Newcastle were 39/29 to be relegated, but the odds have been slashed to just 4/5, while Brighton’s odds have rocketed from 16/1 to a very distant 35/1 to be relegated.
Fulham, who lost 2-1 at home to Leeds on Friday night, are now 15/11 to be relegated.
