Newcastle's Ocucon to launch Pixelate video software in the US

Newcastle tech firm Ocucon is set to launch its Pixelate software in the US this week, as the company seeks to cash in on the huge North American market.

Ocucon specialises in developing CCTV technology that can be used to protect companies from thefts as well as fraudulent slip, trip and fall claims, which can cost companies substantial sums of money.

The company's Pixelate product uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to blur the faces of people in surveillance footage. It allows businesses to redact the faces of third parties and to provide timely answers to Subject Access Requests.

The software meets standards imposed by the EU's General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA).

Pixelate is already available in the UK and is used by fast food giant KFC, which described the software as an "easy-to-use, professional, video redaction solution".

But Ocucon is now eyeing up the US market and is planning to launch the software in the states this week.

In order to launch in America, Ocucon will be hosting Pixelate on the IBM Cloud.

Gary Trotter, chief executive of Ocucon, said: “Working with such a globally renowned company as IBM shows how well regarded Pixelate in particular, and Ocucon’s technology in general, is. The opportunity for Ocucon to grow internationally, and in particular in the US, is enormous.”
