Newcastle's new superclub announces its line-up and tickets are on sale now

A line-up of top DJs has been revealed for Newcastle's newest club as it announces a string of September dates to follow Pete Tong's big opening night.

The Lofts - billed as the biggest club to launch in the city in a decade - is to host the likes of Louie Vega with Eli Escobar, Todd Terry with Melon Bomb, Mark Knight, SKREAM and Franky Wah this autumn and tickets are already on sale.

Ahead of that Danny Howard will take to the stage at the end of August, just after Pete Tong headlines its opening event on the bank holiday weekend.

The DJ legend and Horse Meat Disco will get the party started at the 1,500-capacity club in Newgate Street - on the site of the former Tiger Tiger and Eden - on August 27.

Tong said: “I’m very excited to be a part of launching Newcastle’s new superclub.

"I have really missed playing in front of a live crowd and can’t wait to kick off with The Lofts.”

For many of the newly-announced sign-ups - a mix of established names and rising stars - this will be one of the first chances they've had to perform since lockdown and the club - which spans separate rooms boasting a state-of-the-art sound system and immersive light and visual show - promises fertile ground to show off their skills.

Danny Howard will play an electric night of house there on August 28, with DJ Spen, Frankie Foncett, Mighty Mouse and Ricky Morrison.

Howard, best known for the BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems show, is looking forward to his visit and said: "They say the further north you go, the better the party, and Newcastle is certainly proof of that!

"It’s always an incredible vibe whenever I’ve played in the city before and I have a year’s worth of energy saved up for this."

Next it will be the turn of American Grammy Award winner 'Little Louie' Vega, with Eli Escobar, on September 3; then Mark Knight on September 10; Todd Terry and Melon Bomb on September 11; SKREAM on September 17 and Franky Wah on September 24.

Rising house star Franky said: "I’m absolutely buzzin’ to announce I’m coming to play at the brand new superclub.

"I’ve been dying to play Newcastle."
