Newcastle's new owners have already answered Allan Saint-Maximin's burning question

Allan Saint-Maximin hopes the Newcastle United takeover will allow him to fulfil his ambitions for both club and country.

The confirmation of the £300m sale to the consortium backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has lifted the apathy on Tyneside and raised hopes for the future.

Part owner Amanda Staveley has outlined the vision to transform the Magpies into a club capable of challenging for the Premier League title within the next decade.

Saint-Maximin has quickly proven himself to be one of Newcastle's most valuable assets in the last two years, and has frequently been the subject of transfer speculation.

The takeover has inevitably raised expectations among the fanbase that the club can now match the ambitions of the 24-year-old, who has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.

Speaking to French media, Saint-Maximin has outlined his 'goals' which at club level includes a desire to star in the Champions League.

The attacker is also keen to force his way into the France setup, having featured for the World Champions at youth levels through to the under-21s.

He told Canal+ via FootMercato: "I have goals and it goes through Les Bleus, there is the World Cup, I also have the Champions League in mind so of course I hope that with the takeover of the club, my desires, my ambitions will be able to be in line with everything that is happening at the moment.

"I'm pretty happy with what's going on for the club right now, I hope the best is still to come."
