Newcastle's new Boiler Shop Emporium promises to be a summer feast and here's what is on the menu

A 20-seater restaurant featuring guest chefs will help attracts crowds to  the Boiler Shop in Newcastle when it opens its doors to another food market.

The historic building in the city 's South Street where Robert Stephenson built the famous Rocket - now reborn as an arts and events venue and redeveloped during the first phase of the £200m Stephenson Quarter regeneration - is set to host a Boiler Shop Emporium on June 9.

The event promises to combine the best of farmers' markets with extra unusual attractions such as wood carvers;traditional shoe-shiners and upcyclers and including  Mr Tilly's gents' barbers and artisan marshmallow-makers Marsh Loves Mallow.

On the food menu, quality products will be served up by the likes of local bakers Northern Rye; award-winners Teesdale Cheesemakers; charcuterie brand Meat Salt Smoke; chocolatier Abaissé and vegetable-growers Hexhamshire Organics and The Micro Farmer.

These will be served up alongside drinks from small batch distillers, Sunderland-based independent Poetic License, plus craft beers from NORD Bottle Shop and tipples from Laneberg Wine, which is described as Tyneside's first Urban Winery.

Specialist makers Estate Tea Company and Laneway Coffee will be providing hot drinks and the pop-up restaurant will be showcasing  chefs among the hustle and bustle of the market stalls - all against a backdrop of entertainment.

Doors for the Boiler Shop Emporium will open at 11am on the day and will run until 5pm.

For tickets costing £6, which includes a £1 booking fee, book here . Entry will be free for children under 16.
