Newcastle's FA Cup third round trip to Rochdale or Boston has been chosen for live TV coverage

Newcastle United have been selected for live TV coverage for their FA Cup third-round clash away at either Rochdale or Boston United.

Steve Bruce's side will play in front of the BT Sport cameras on Saturday, January 4, with the potential of a trip to the lowest ranked team left in the competition, in National League North Boston.

Even a trip to League One Rochdale provides an opportunity for a third-round shock and that is seemingly what has appealed to BT bosses when making their TV picks.

It will be an early start for Newcastle fans as well, as the match will kick off at 12:31pm. It is one of six FA Cup third round fixtures that have been chosen for live TV coverage.

Newcastle are looking to revive their fortunes in the FA Cup having not gone beyond the fourth round since 2007.

Wolves vs Manchester United will also be shown live on BT Sport on Saturday, with kick-off at 5:31pm. Sunday will see Middlesbrough vs Tottenham and Gillingham vs West Ham on BT Sport, while the BBC are picking up the highly anticipated Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton.

Meanwhile, Leeds' trip to Arsenal concludes the TV picks, with BBC Sport broadcasting the fixture on Monday, January 6.
