Newcastle rooftop bar Above to open for people to enjoy epic view of Great North Run
Newcastle's newest bar Above is opening its doors early on Sunday to let people enjoy the Great North Run from its rooftop.
If you fancy getting in on the GNR action by watching the world's most famous half marathon from an amazing viewpoint, you'll want to get yourself along to the new venue, which had its official launch in mid-August after huge anticipation.
Sitting right at the top of Newcastle's Vermont Hotel, Above has a luxurious interior drinking and dining area, as well as an outdoor space that runs right around the roof and has its own bar, as well as boasting breathtaking views of the city below.
The big change for this year's Great North Run is the different route, which will see elite and fun runners, while still completing 13 miles, finish back in Newcastle, rather than South Shields.
Runners will head to the traditional half way point near Whitemare Pool before heading back into town, meaning those who head to Above to get a good vantage point, will see them cross the Tyne Bridge twice.
Above, the location where Brendan Foster officially launched this year's event, will open its doors at 9am, the same time that TV coverage of the race will get going, and serve up breakfast sandwiches as people gear up to watch the runners go by below.
Above's GNR event is in support of the Chronicle's Sunshine Fund and you can book a table at the Above website for any time slot on Sunday from 9am.
A £10 deposit is taking on bookings, which can be redeemed on your food and drink. A full menu will be available from 12 noon.
Advance booking is recommended as only limited walk ins will be available on the day.
