Newcastle Road closed in both directions after collision near Tollymore Forest

A Co Down road has been closed in both directions after a collision between Castlewellan and Newcastle this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Newcastle Road at around 12.45pm this afternoon.

Trafficwatch NI tweeted: "Road obstructed. Air ambulance will be attending."

A police spokesperson said: "The Newcastle Road between Castlewellan and Newcastle has been closed in both directions following a road traffic collision. Diversions are in place."

The road sits near Tollymore Forest Park and Castlewellan Lake.

There are no further details at this stage.
