A Newcastle restaurant is keeping hard-working NHS workers well fed by setting up a Pizza Fund in their honour.
City centre haunt Pizza Punks, which like many others in the area, had to shut its doors two weeks ago due to coronavirus after orders from the Government, has launched the fund to deliver pizzas to key workers at the Royal Victoria Infirmary fighting the frontline fight against the global pandemic, which has now claimed cover 3,000 lives in the UK.
Pizza Punks launched the fund last week after teaming up with suppliers Continental Foods and Eco Runners, to donate enough pizza to feed 500 people.
And now they are calling on kind-hearted Geordies to help them feed even more hardworking NHS staff by donating to the fund. You can make a donation to the Pizza Fund by making a purchase of £10, £20 or £50 from Pizza Punks' online voucher store HERE.
In their Facebook post about the fund, the restaurant, who have just relaunched their delivery service for homes in a 2 mile radius, added: "All funds raised will go directly towards the cost of making and delivering pizza to the hard-working staff at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in the coming weeks.
"This is a non-profit scheme, our team are volunteering their time and any donation made will go solely towards us getting pizza directly to the NHS staff."
Earlier this week, Newcastle pub The Dog & Parrot announced it will hold a RVI Celebration Party once lockdown is over.
