Newcastle remain in James Maddison driving seat as bookmakers cast transfer verdict

Newcastle United remain the bookmakers favourite to sign James Maddison this summer despite interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Eddie Howe and his side have a long standing interest in the Leicester City playmaker, who is tipped to leave the King Power this summer following their relegation to the Championship.

Maddison was one the standout performer for the Foxes in a dismal campaign that ended their Premier League tenure. The Toon had a number of bids rejected by Leicester last season and are expected to return with a fresh proposal.

Bet365 has Maddison as 6/5 odds to join the Magpies and play Champions League football next year. Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side are at 3/1 to sign the England international.

Last summer, the Howe's men signed Nick Pope from relegated Burnley and he played a huge part in their defensive resilience last season. The Toon could follow suit this summer, approaching the likes of Leicester City, Leeds and Southampton for possible signings.

James Ward-Prowse is another player expected to return to the Premier League and is priced at 10/3 to sign for the Magpies. David Moyes' West Ham United are the favourites to sign the Saints deep-lying playmaker in the wake of their Europa Conference League triumph.

Declan Rice is expected to leave the Hammers this summer and Ward-Prowse could fill that void. He's price at 5/1 to remain at Southampton.

The Toon are in the driving seat to sign Arsenal's Kieran Tierney with odds of 4/6, having struggled for game time at the Gunners this season. The Scottish international has been repeatedly linked with a move to St. James' Park and the bookies have him at 7/4 to remain at the Emirates.
