Newcastle Racecourse dress code for Plate Day and are fancy dress costumes allowed?

This year is hurtling by at lightning speed and next week it will be the start of July.

Always a huge event for the course and for the whole of Newcastle, the Northumberland Plate Festival is set to attract a huge crowd over the weekend, with the biggest turnout being for Plate Day itself on Saturday, June 29.

As well as the big one - the Betfair Northumberland Plate - the racing calendar will also include the Betfair Exchange Chipchase Stakes and will conclude with a performance from ska legends Madness.

If you have your Plate Day tickets, it's important that you're aware of the too and the dress code for Newcastle Racecourse.

Dress code for Plate Day at Newcastle Racecourse

The dress code in hospitality areas and the Premier Enclosure is smart casual. Sportswear, trainers and fancy dress are not permitted. Shirts must have a collar, a tie is not essential. Smart jeans and tailored shorts are acceptable.

Fancy dress is allowed, providing it’s decent and would not cause offence to other guests.

And lads, there's an extra incentive for you to get dressed to the nines as there will be prizes for Best Dressed Male.
