A Newcastle pub is planning on honouring the hardworking staff at one of the city's hospitals with a huge party once lockdown is over.
Staff at the Royal Victoria Infirmary have been fighting the frontline fight against coronavirus for weeks now as the global pandemic claims more and more lives across the UK.
At the time of writing on Wednesday afternoon, the number of coronavirus deaths in the UK had sharply increased again to 2,352, including four more in Newcastle.
As of 9am 1 April, a total of 152,979 people had been tested of which 29,474 tested positive. Good Morning Britain health expert Dr Hilary Jones predicts a peak will come in the "next two to three weeks," after which he hopes the country will be able to "get a handle on things."
Nobody knows yet how long lockdown will go on for but The Dog & Parrot have announced plans to celebrate the hard work of everyone at the RVI with a massive appreciation party.
The fundraiser is currently in the diary for Sunday, October 4 and the Facebook post about it reads: "We're throwing a party on Sunday October 4th to raise money & show our appreciation for the great people working tirelessly at our incredible Royal Victoria Infirmary - while we sit tight in our homes waiting for the crisis to blow over.
"All money raised from ticket sales will be donated to the RVI, along with our DJ's wages & any funds raised from collection buckets on the night.
"If we're not given the governments blessing to re-open by October 4th - an alternative date will be arranged. "
