Newcastle Pride parade road closures as huge march goes through city centre

Newcastle Pride returns this weekend and one of the biggest spectacles of the three day festival will be the massive Pride parade through the city centre.

Newcastle Pride, or Northern Pride to give it its official title, will take over the Town Moor and Exhibition Park from July 19 - 21, with things getting going on Friday evening with a Bongo's Bingo Pride special.

Things then go up a notch on Saturday afternoon, with the Newcastle Pride parade , which will start at the Civic Centre.

This year’s parade - carrying the title of Stonewall Remembrance March-  will begin with a minute of applause at the start of the route, to show solidarity and thanks to those who have been a part of LGBT+ equality movement over the years.

With a huge turnout expected, whatever the may bring, there will be a number of road closures in force in Newcastle city centre.

These will all be from 11am - 1pm and affect the following:

* St Marys Place between John Dobson Street and Barras bridge
* Blackett Street for its entire length
* Percy Street for its entire length
* Barras Bridge between Percy Street and Claremont Road
* Claremont Road between Barras Bridge and Exhibition Park

Once the parade has made its way to Town Moor, Newcastle Pride's Saturday lineup will kick off, including the launch of the new Be Scene dance and cabaret zone.

And the Sunday lineup will be topped by Liberty X.
