Jamie Carragher has revealed he is behind supporters who protest against 'what is not right' at their football clubs - and that includes Newcastle United fans.
Manchester United's game against Liverpool was postponed on Sunday after around 200 fans broke into Old Trafford to make their feelings clear against the Glazers a couple of hours before kick-off.
It was the first time a Premier League fixture had been called off because of a fan protest and comes just two weeks after it emerged the Red Devils had agreed to join the European Super League before subsequently pulling out following a fierce backlash.
Fans may be unable to attend games at the moment but Carragher has certainly noted how they have made themselves heard in recent weeks.
“I think two weeks ago, supporters all over through the Super League came together for the first time," he told Sky Sports.
"I’ve just been looking on my phone and you see the reaction of Liverpool supporters, but you go back a few weeks and Liverpool supporters were maybe involved in something with a bus [Real Madrid's window being smashed] and got plenty of criticism. There will always be idiots who get involved in this.
“This thing that Manchester United fans have done, I actually think it's a good thing in terms of protesting about what you are not happy about is going on at the club.
"There will always be one or two people who take it too far and that's not just the protest. That's a night out with your mates. There's always someone who does something stupid.
“Should that ruin it for everyone and should that dominate the news? No and it shouldn’t dominate things when it’s other clubs.
"I see supporters from other clubs trying to score points, but protesting about what is not right at your football club, I’m behind that and I'm behind that from any set of supporters, whether that be Newcastle fans with Mike Ashley, Arsenal fans against [Stan] Kroenke, whoever it is."
