Newcastle notes: Ruthless Bruce calls out FOUR stars in Press conference and whizzkid's new mission

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is taking no prisoners as the club look to climb away from danger in the Premier League.

Having had no indication from managing director Lee Charnley that his job is under serious threat, Bruce has now been direct with his thoughts in the last two games when criticising players in the Press.

Four players were called out in post-game interviews after the 1-1 draw with Wolves in Martin Dubravka, Matt Ritchie, Joelinton and Jamal Lewis.

Having described Karl Darlow's mistake as a "cardinal sin" at Old Trafford in the 3-1 loss against Manchester United, Bruce has not held back.

Ritchie did not pass on instructions about a formation change when he came on as a 72nd-minute substitute just before Ruben Neves' equaliser.

Bruce said: "The instructions Matty didn't get on to the team quick enough on how we were doing it."

Then he went on to talk about Dubravka and Lewis saying: "When you look at the goal, we should have stopped the cross and when the keeper looks at it, could he have done better?"

Finally, Bruce made his point about £40million forward Joelinton's missed opportunity to win it at the Gallowgate End.

Bruce said: "I think he should score.

"It was a great run by Murphy and it was a big, big chance with, what was it, seven minutes to go?

"I've just seen it back again and it's a big, huge opportunity that we missed."

The score draw specialists do it again

Newcastle and Wolves can't seem to inflict a defeat on each other with this game ending up being a stalemate once again.

Indeed, not only were the points shared but United and Wolves recording the same identical scoreline for the FIFTH time in a row.

Only this time Steve Bruce will feel his side should have walked away with the points after creating 19 chances against Wanderers.

Will Elliot Anderson finally get the chance to shine in the next game?

Steve Bruce blocked all loan bids for the teenager in January and insisted he would get game-time on Tyneside.

It is believed that Luton Town wanted to take Anderson on loan in the Sky Bet Championship and give him the rest of the season on the bigger stage at Kenilworth Road.

But Bruce - who handed Anderson his debut and a big contract this season - feels the attacking midfielder had a chance.

That was before the Magpies became fully engulfed in a relegation battle, but now he may have little choice but to turn to the Academy product.

Anderson hasn't made the bench in recent weeks and found himself back in the Under-23s where scored in the 3-2 win over the Baggies reserves last week.

He certainly wouldn't shirk the challenge but seniority may be against him.

His mission this week in training will be to prove he can deal with the tough task against Albion's senior stars.

Ryan Fraser should be in for a start at the Hawthorns, but both Anderson and Sean Longstaff - who can also play as a number 10 - may be in contention.
