Newcastle next manager news as Jim White hints the revolution is on pause

Under pressure Steve Bruce could receive a Newcastle lifeline as he remains in the hot seat ahead of Sunday's clash with Tottenham.

It was expected that the 60-year-old would exit St James Park after the Saudi Arabian-led takeover was rubber-stamped last week.

Amanda Staveley and her new board are yet to make any major decisions on what comes next but the Geordie native remains at the helm.

The Toon Army have been eagerly awaiting news on a new manager with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers and Antonio Conte among the bookies' favourites.

But talkSPORT host Jim White revealed on Wednesday that current manager and his No.2 Graeme Jones remain in charge and are gearing up for the visit of Spurs.

He said: "Training as usual.

"As we speak this morning, Steve's taking training."

Newcastle currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League table and are winless in their seven league games so far.
