Newcastle MP writes to Minister for Consumer Affairs urging action over NUFC ticket refunds

Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah has written to the Minister for Consumer Affairs urging action over Newcastle United ticket refunds.

The Magpies are now the only Premier League club not to communicate to their fans their plans for ticket refunds, despite the rest of the English football season taking place behind closed doors.

Newcastle have yet to circulate details of their plans for ticket refunds and in a letter to supporters last Friday, the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust confirmed they have taken legal advice on the situation.

The NUST also confirmed the Premier League would discuss the issue with Newcastle United on their behalf.

Despite the club being in the midst of a takeover, their lack of communication and clarity on the matter has been slammed by those in football circles.

The Supporters' Trust also wrote to Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley last week, which accused the club of a 'dereliction of duty' towards its fans.

And now Onwurah, who has often aired the grievances of Newcastle fans towards the current ownership in parliament, has written to Paul Scully MP urging him to 'speak up for the consumer rights of Newcastle United fans'.
