Newcastle linked with Santiago Munoz amid future of two potential departures

Here is your 4am Newcastle United digest.

Newcastle linked with move for Santiago Munoz

According to ESPN in Mexico, 18-year-old forward Santiago Munoz seems set to join the Magpies.

Munoz, whose name has a likeness to the famous Newcastle United character Santiago Munez from the movie GOAL!, has scored three goals in 19 appearances for Mexican side Santos Laguna and helped Mexico reach the final of the under-17 World Cup.

Steve Bruce verdict on Sean Longstaff future amid Everton interest

Steve Bruce says that Newcastle United have had no bids for Sean Longstaff.

However, he admitted at his Press conference that his younger brother Matty Longstaff could be sent out on loan.

"I haven’t heard anything on Sean Longstaff to Everton," Bruce said.

"I can’t really respond to that.

"As far as I’m concerned, nobody’s come to me and mentioned him.

"I’ve seen it out there on social media, but nothing has come to me.”

Arsenal and Newcastle United's summer transfer business may not end with Joe Willock

Arsenal may not be finished their summer business with Newcastle United just yet despite the imminent arrival of Joe Willock.

The Gunners sanctioned Willock's exit to St James' Park for £25million five days ago only for a series of complex talks eventually sealing the deal after the player's representatives and United did not initially agree on personal terms.

However, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could now turn to Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and potentially revive interest in the Croydon-born stopper.

With Arteta's pursuit of Sheffield United and England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale hitting the buffers, with the Blades believed to be demanding £35million, Woodman could fit the bill at the Emirates Stadium.

Having originally been part of a discussion for a swap deal for Willock earlier this summer, Woodman stayed on at Newcastle due to injuries and illness for Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow.

The former England Under-21 stopper then played his way into contention for the opening game against West Ham United.

But with the Ramsdale deal off the table at Arsenal, the long-term target of the 14-times FA Cup winners has returned to the conversation.
