Newcastle linked with Ligue 1 title winner
Sunday's version of L'Equipe (via Sport Witness) has brought Newcastle into the running to sign Lille defender Sven Botman.
The report names Newcastle among interested parties in the Dutch under-21 international alongside Manchester City, West Ham and Tottenham.
However, it is claimed only a ‘delusional offer beyond €50m' will convince Lille to part ways with the 21-year-old making a move to Newcastle this summer highly unlikely.
Magpies linked with Masopust
According to 90min.com, Newcastle are one of a host of Premier League clubs who have been offered the chance to sign Slavia Prague winger Lukas Masopust.
The 28-year-old played in all five matches as Czech Republic reached the quarter-finals of the recent European Championships.
Leicester, Watford, Brighton, West Ham, Wolves and Crystal Palace have also been offered the chance to sign him according to the report.
Newcastle told unlikely man could become a 'superstar' this season
Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman can 'become a superstar' for the Magpies this season.
That is the verdict of former Sunderland and England forward Kevin Phillips who believes the former England under-21 international is 'good enough to cope with the pressure' of keeping goal for the Magpies.
“Yeah, he could start, why not?” Phillips told Football Insider.
“Once again Steve Bruce is having to deal with injuries on the eve of a new season.
“I feel sorry for him. He’s never moaned about those injuries, he just gets on with it.
“If Woodman is handed that big opportunity I’m sure he’ll take it.
“Whether he can remain the number one for the full season remains to be seen.
“He’s good enough to cope with the pressure, it’s amazing in football, you see scenarios like this all the time.
“Players get injured and a replacement comes in and they can be a superstar.
“It could be a big season for him."
