Newcastle 'line up transfers for Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin'

Newcastle have had a mixed transfer window so far and they have landed some targets and missed out on others.

They have spent £57million so far on Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman, but Eddie Howe had failed to land the striker he wants.

Newcastle missed out on striker Hugo Ekitike to Paris St Germain, despite agreeing terms with his old club Stade de Reims. A striker remains on Howe's shopping list and Newcastle have moved on to other targets, including Sochaux's Alan Virginius and Bordeaux's Sekou Mara.

Mirror Sport has the latest transfer news from Newcastle, including updates on their striker search.

Newcastle make Toney approach to Brentford

The Bootroom carry comments from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano to Caught Offside, claiming Newcastle have made an approach to Brentford for Ivan Toney.

Romano claims the Toon have made contact with Brentford about Toney, but have not yet made any bid. He claims the Bees are loathe to lose Toney and would want £45million for their talismanic striker.

Newcastle are anxious to sign another frontman after missing out on long-term target Hugo Ekitike to Paris St Germain.

Newcastle make Calvert-Lewin approach to Everton

The Footballfancast website claim Newcastle have made an approach to Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims Newcastle are targeting Calvert-Lewin as they attempt to sign the top striker Eddie Howe wants. Everton are desperate to hang on to Calvert-Lewin, having lost to Richarlison to Tottenham, and value the England striker at £60million in an attemp to ward off unwanted interest.

This may prove too much for Newcastle and they are determined not to be held to ransom this summer.

Marsch insists Newcastle-target Harrison is happy at Leeds

Inside Futbol carry quotes from Jesse Marsch insisting Newcastle-target Jack Harrison is happy at Leeds.

Eddie Howe wants to sign Harrison and the winger refused to rule out a move when he replied "we'll see" in response to a question about his future. Marsch has tried to calm the situation and says Harrison is central to his plans for next season.

The Leeds boss said: "There is always interest in our players, but we feel strongly the guys within our group can help us to be successful and Jack is part of that. I know he is happy here."
