It's official - Newcastle is the best city in English football for fans to quench their thirst before a game.

Footie fans heading to St James' Park have more choice of pubs within a half-mile radius of the stadium than any other ground.

The Toon Army have 108 pubs to choose from ahead of matches, according to research from Pubs Galore.

League Two side Newport County follow in second place along with Wolves, but are still lagging behind the Toon with 32 pubs within close vicinity.

Ipswich (29) and Blackpool (26) make up the top five, but all pale (ale) in comparison to the Geordies.

If the list was extended to a mile radius, Sheffield United would be ranked higher in second with 134 boozers, but Newcastle would still claim top spot with 174.
