Newcastle in deadline day talks to sign Arsenal youngster Joe Willock

Newcastle United are holding last-gasp talks to sign Joe Willock from Arsenal.

The Magpies are also still interested in Hamza Choudhury but time is running out and, with the Gunners willing to loan the 21-year-old to the Magpies, Steve Bruce may have to settle for the London-born youngster.

Willock has played 17 times for Arsenal this term and started just one game for the Gunners.

The midfielder has been unable to break into Mikel Arteta's side this term.

Willock was part of a barren run suffered by Arsenal and speaking earlier in the season, he said: "We're not playing well enough as a team at the moment and we need to stick together and bounce back from this very quickly.

“I don't think it's clicking enough and there's not enough fluidity in the team.

“We need to sort this out as quickly as possible to fight for the position we want to fight for.”

Now though Arteta has lost patience with Willock and is happy to let him go out on loan.
