Newcastle hold 'genuine' transfer interest in Lloyd Kelly with Joao Felix exit rumours dismissed

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest for December 16.

'Genuine' Kelly interest

Newcastle United hold a 'genuine' interest in Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly, but the Cherries are not open to selling the defender.

That is according to talkSPORT correspondent Alex Crook, who reports Scott Parker's side are not 'willing to entertain any bids' for the 23-year-old.

Kelly has impressed for the Championship promotion contenders having initially struggled for game-time following a move from Bristol City in 2019.

Liverpool have recently been linked with the former England youth international who is approaching the final two years of his contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Felix rumours denied

Joao Felix has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid in recent weeks following a difficult spell in the Spanish capital.

Newcastle United were almost inevitably linked with the 22-year-old, with reports indicating the Magpies were one of several Premier League clubs to 'ask' on the forward's availability.

However, Atletico club president Enrique Cerezo has moved to dismiss talk of a January exit, describing the Portuguese international as 'magnificent' and making a comparison to Sergio Aguero.

Cerezo told El Larguero via Marca: “He’s a magnificent player; I don’t think he wants to leave.

“He is non-transferable, and we are betting on him as we bet on [Sergio] Agüero in his day.”
