For some 2019 was a year to remember, others had their sights set on the promise of the new year. Regardless of their perspective, everyone at Newcastle foreshore was in a mood to party and welcome in 2020 in style.
For many it was the first opportunity to ride the city's light rail system, which opened in March, into the foreshore.
One again the revamped foreshore and recently opened Signal Box area proved a hit with families and couples looking to wind down by the water for the last few hours of 2019.
Despite concerns about the dried-out harbour surrounds, the traditional 9pm fireworks went off without a hitch.
