Newcastle Grainger Market opening hours - when to go for food, shopping and more

If you can get into Newcastle City Centre during a weekday or on a Saturday, it's worth popping into the Grainger Market to stock up on supplies or enjoy a quick lunch.

The covered market houses a variety of greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers and other stalls, which offer great value on fresh produce. As well as meat, fish and vegetables, shoppers can get cheese, freshly ground coffee, freshly baked bread, cakes and dry goods.

The Grainger Market is also an extremely popular lunch spot, with stalls ranging from traditional sandwiches to cuisine from around the world. Where else in Newcastle can you choose between gryos , meze, Chinese dumplings, Italian pizza slices and tapas, all under one roof?

When is the Grainger Market open?

The Grainger Market is open between 9am and 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday. It is closed on Sundays. However, there are occasional Sunday and late openings, especially at Christmas.

Christmas opening 2019

The market is opening on Sundays from 11am to 4pm in the run-up to Christmas starting December 1. It will also open December 8, 15 and 22.
