Newcastle given nightmare Champions League draw as Manchester United face Bayern Munich

Newcastle face a blockbuster Champions League group in their first season back in the competition.

The Magpies will take on PSG, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in Group F, in what is a hugely daunting assignment. It is the club’s first appearance in Europe since the 2012/13 season, while they have not played in the Champions League group-stage for 20 years.

Elsewhere, Manchester United and Bayern Munich were draw together in Group A, meaning Harry Kane will make a swift return to England after his summer move to the Bundesliga giants. Wilfried Zaha is also set to come up against United, having joined Galatasaray.

Defending champions Manchester City will certainly be satisfied after being grouped with RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys, while Real Madrid and Napoli are strong favourites to progress from Group C.

Arsenal will be eyeing top spot on their return to the Champions League, even though they go up against European specialists Sevilla, and Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side face a trip to Spain after being draw alongside Atletico Madrid.
