Newcastle give Arsenal easy Matteo Guendouzi answer as Mikel Arteta eyes AC Milan's No 1 target

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Arteta faces a top three push

Arsenal could finish the weekend sitting third in the Premier League ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, manchetser United and West Ham if results go Mikel Arteta's way this weekend.

Despite having suffered three losses without a goal at the start of the season with many fans calling for the Gunners boss' head, Arteta has weathered the storm.

The Spaniard has made significant step towards reigniting Gooners' European dreams and Arsenal are now knocking on the door of a top three finish in the Premier League.

Arteta could send Arsenal into third this weekend (@possible_tables)

Our view: Underrated. Arteta has done a superb job at Arsenal to turn around their poor form. Initially, I couldn't quite see the Gunners actually breaking into the top three this weekend but the more I look at the fixture list the more I think it may happen.

Manchester derby and Liverpool versus West Ham - it could actually happen. What a way to mark a turnaround.

Arsenal face bidding war for Guendouzi

Newcastle United have taken interest in signing Arsenal loanee Matteo Guendouzi, according to MercatoFoot (via The Sun), as Edu prepares for a bidding war to salvage his transfer mistake.

The Frenchman is currently on loan at the French side having found himself frozen out by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Guendouzi has a clause in his deal at the Stade Velodrome whereby Marseille the have the choice to make the move permanent for £9 million, according to Goal.

Our view: The 22-year-old midfielder is valued at £19.8 million by football data and statistics website Transfermarkt which could see Arsenal recieve upwards of a further £10 million should the Magpies enter the race.

This is ideal for Arsenal and in a way Edu has been saved a little bit. Having agreed to such a small free in Guendouzi's deal with Marseille, a bidding war can salvage from funds ahead of Arteta's next summer transfer spree.

Edu eyes new striker

Arsenal have entered the race for Torino striker Andrea Belotti despite the 27-year-old setting his sights on a move to AC Milan, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.

The Italy international sees his contract with the Serie A side expire at the end of the season and he's yet to pen a new deal.

Belotti may not be the first man on Edu's list but with the Italian said to be keen on staying in his home country and moving to the Rossoneri, who also hold an interest in his services according to reports.

Our view: Belotti would be a good signing for Arsenal - he's a serial goal scorer. The Italian has netted double figures in the Serie A for six successive seasons including one of which saw him score 26 in league games.

He would be able to handle himself physically in the Premier League - tall, strong and has a turn of pace - and he'd also add another dimension to Arteta's side.
