Newcastle get positive injury news as goalkeeper crisis eases

Newcastle United will have Karl Darlow fit for the trip to Wolves - and could have their defensive options bolstered for the Molineux clash.

Darlow was struggling towards the end of the Manchester United game, having delivered a man of the match performance in stopping the Red Devils for large parts of the contest.

But, as revealed by Chronicle's Chief Newcastle writer Lee Ryder on Monday, scans are understood to have revealed no serious damage from the clash with Marcus Rashford and he will be back in training in time for the Wolves match.

Newcastle will be relieved by that news. An injury would have left United with only Mark Gillespie and youngster Dan Langley available with Wolves.

Freddie Woodman is at Swansea on a season-long loan while Martin Dubravka is likely to be out until December at the earliest.

United will have Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark available after they came through Monday's under-23 clash with Fulham. Matty Longstaff may be fielded in Friday's under-23 game at West Brom as he looks to rebuild fitness.
