Newcastle forward Allan Saint-Maximin issues hilarious put-down to Sunderland fan's jibe

Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin has issued a hilarious response on social media to a Sunderland fan's jibe.

The Black Cats announced the re-signing of free agent Danny Graham on Monday - the same day the Magpies confirmed the £20m capture of Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

Graham endured a difficult three-year spell at the Stadium of Light after signing in 2013 before rebuilding his reputation at Blackburn Rovers.

Sunderland confirmed the 35-year-old had rejoined the club after several weeks of training with Phil Parkinson's side, and one fan decided to take a swipe at Saint-Maximin and United's record signing Joelinton on social media.

In response to a Tweet about Wilson, the supporter posted on Tuesday afternoon: "Danny Graham has more Premier League goals than Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin combined."

The original Tweet has so far earned more than 500 likes, and managed to draw a response from the Magpies' number 10.

Saint-Maximin's reply was a less than subtle reminder that United are currently two divisions above their League One rivals.

The French forward's post has so far earned more than 60,000 likes in a matter of hours, and was celebrated by United supporters in the replies.

One fan wrote: "Allan just finished them off."

Another supporter commented: "You're such a hero."

Saint-Maximin's post was backed up by the Magpies' official account, applauding the 23-year-old's 'W'.
